Nintendo Number One, Sort Of

Develop Magazine has released the 2008 edition of their
Develop 100 ranking of game development
studios by 2007 UK sales. The big story this year is that Nintendo has dethroned
EA Montreal for the top spot, though it should be pointed out that EA's standing
on the list is diluted as it is separated into divisions. So while Nintendo's
top ranking is based on their sales of £129.83m, if you add the figures
associated with EA Canada, EA Black Box, EA LA, EA Redwood Shores, EA Salt Lake,
EA Bright Light, EA Tiburon, EA Chicago, and EA Montreal, the total comes to a
whopping £194.09m, which is more than the combined total for Nintendo and
Ubisoft Montreal (number three on the list). Of course this means Ubisoft is
likewise subdivided, but adding the sales totals of Ubisoft Montreal, Ubisoft
France, and Ubisoft Romania would not change their ranking.
