Game Lobbying Gears Up
The Entertainment Consumers Association Announces they are now offering
membership to Canadian citizens, creating an international reach for this
lobbying organization. Word is: "The ECA will soon be unveiling a host of unique
benefits and programs that will be specifically targeted towards Canadian
consumers. Canadian chapter organizations are already underway in local gaming
communities and these newly-formed networks will continue to grow and offer a
great way for videogame players to stay informed and connect with like-minded
ECA members in their area." Here's the ECA
Website. On a related note,
Edge Online reports a dramatic increase in spending on game lobbying in the
US, saying the $1.7m spent by The Entertainment
Software Association in the first-half of this year tops the $1.4m spent by
the lobby group all of last year. They contrast this with the Motion Picture
Association of America, which has spent less than a million dollars in the first
half of this year.
