When you're responding to this thread:-No hacks or cheats please, at all.
Don't name scammers, this is not a place for accusations.
Adding to the list is great, all the info can you post here is great.
Don't let me discourage anyone from being kind hearted or generous to other players, just keep in mind, if you don't intend to lose items and penya, then you don't deserve to be scammed or conned.
Follow simple rules:-
1. Good deals are good deals, unreal deals are not good deals, they are scams.
2. Any really urgent hardpress sell is not kosher, don't get rammed into a deal, if they can't wait, they have something they don't want you to consider.
3. The trade system is safe, anything that requires you to not use it as intended, is a scam.
4. Only use the mailbox system if you are genuinely GIVING AWAY THE ITEM, use a SINGLE TRADE WINDOW for your deals.
5. Anything to do with cheating and hacking is a perm ban.
Party Stealing
You are party leader, and some random member, whom you don't know well or at all, suddenly asks for lead, you're a total noob and you give it to him/her -- wammy, you're kicked, your party has just been stolen. DO NOT give the lead to random people who you don't have a history of trust and lead swapping, PERIOD.

Dont forget about the party looter scam... The noob (you are plvling) lets you pick up all the blues but look "hey whats that, its a bird, its a plane, no its a Green weapon/armor!" He swoops in and snatches it like Robin Hood. You ask him nicely to give it back but he doesn't respond or he uses l33t, or says he doesn't speak english and tells you to speak a random language like russian or something. You don't know how then he quits party and gets on his fancy ignice board and flies away. This has happened to me once when I found a G sword drop(25mil on kern) and I have 5 blues but he look the noob im plvling jacks it. Laughs a bit and flys away. (SkyMesh says: As party leader, try putting your drops on MANUAL, so if they loot you, you get the item anyway!)

PLVL SELLER BEWARE
You've just made this great deal with an unknown player to plvl his noob character -- it's unreal, millions per level, spro's, c$ items, wow, you're going to be rich. Set a price per level, when they get the 1st level, inability to pay kills the deal. Are they buying just one level? Get half the deal paid up-front! (They will not trust you? Then you can't trust them!)

You forgot the shop scam, you know, where players say things like "3k arrows for only 1k", its actually 1k an arrow, not 1k for the entire stack. There are very common around the SM general these days -- please note carefully -- the shop price is the UNIT PRICE, THE PRICE PER 1 ITEM.

You see those really cute slippers in a shop for ONLY 50,000 penya -- buy them, oh yeah, so cute, ^.^ -- then while you're shopping in SM square, there, an NPC sells them for only 500 penya. This is one of the most silly noobish ones to fall into, but hell, people keep trying this scam and stupid people keep buying them at 100x mark-up

Short Zeroes
You're doing this great trade with someone, for lots and lots of penya, millions even, you're really happy, about to be rich! You finalise the trade, and you're actually still poor, what happened? The buyer LEFT OFF JUST 1 ZERO in the buy price. For the love of things shiny and golden -- COUNT THE ZEROES PLEASE!

DUO-SCAM Contributed by Navii
What about the duo-scam? The one where somebody is shouting that they're selling an item for a ridiculously expensive price. You initially dismiss this, but later see someone BUYING that exact same item for an even MORE expensive price, and think "Hey I can net some extra money", so you buy the item from the former and in turn try to sell it to the latter. However, said person either logs off or says "Oh sry I already bought it" or something along those lines. In the end these two people were working together to scam you. Works with shops and shout - and is practiced in other games too as far as I've seen.

Additionally, don't trust someone else who says "its ok to trade him the money first, i bought stuff off him and there was no problem" because they are more than likely in on it together.

Someone's trying to sell something and they don't like what someone's offered so what do they do? They get a friend to "offer" more and act as a fake bidder.

Not much of a Scam, more of an "after scam" but sometimes after scamming someone the scammer will get a friend to shout that the person that got scammed is the scammer. A defamation scam?

Guild Bank "Scam" Contributed by OdioOmnus
This only applies if you are a guildmaster. NEVER give anyone you don't know free access over the Guild Bank. Odds are, they will eventually take advantage of it and steal, not borrow, most if not all your items and penya. What's annoying is that they can mail their loot to one of their other characters, so they can use or sell it without a bad rep going around for that other character. Don't even do it to let them grab a cape. In the same vein never give anyone you don't know access over the guild roster; even if they don't kick everyone from the guild they might alter the roster to their liking, kicking and adding people on a purely personal basis.
Split Trades
You're trading with some one and they claim they can't put all of the goods or money into the same trade, they want to do it in stages, "split the trade up", WTF? They insist you hand-over all your penya and/or gear on the 1st trade... If they can't provide what you bargained for, on the 1st go, redo the deal or cancel it, but don't ever give someone the opportunity to walk away with more than they gave you by never doing the 2nd trade!
Variation 1: A cross-server trade is proposed, are you sure you can trust that person to trade back on the other server? Anyone wanting all the gear up front from you and not giving the gear to you on the server until then is likely scamming you.

Another thing is that "lag" doesnt cause weird shit to happen, no matter how much you try to convince it elsewise. Like oh the cash set is in there but its lag, just press ok .. oh the cash shop isnt working for me, its lag, ill have to gift you it .. oh there arent enough 0s cause its lag.

Item Substitution
Oh cool, you're about to buy that great green you've always wanted, it is just fab, so excited, you complete the trade, and you have... some lousy blue piece of crap! WTF? Some blues have the same appearance as greens, some CS scrolls look like other crappy scrolls, mouse over all of the offered items, MAKE SURE YOU ARE GETTING WHAT YOU ARE PAYING FOR!

You see a really cool looking lion in a shop so, you decide to buy it. You decide to summon it to show it off, when all of a sudden it dies within 5 seconds. Always make sure to check your buying and selling of pet's, because if it has 0 lifes, its not worth buying.

You're out and grinding like mad with your really cool Pet (Baby Whatever) and some fellow bounces up to you and says, "Wow! I love your Baby Whatever, can I try him?", and you, the supreme idiot of all, hands over the pet, the fellow logs, goodbye pet... NO ONE NEEDS TO TRY ANY OF YOUR GEAR PETS OR STUFF EVER, TELL THEM TO GET SOME C$ or BYO or just GTFO.

Duplication (NOT)
Random moment of the day, someone randomly pm's you, saying "Hey, want 2 billion penya man? I can MAKE penya!", OMGWTFBBQ, "Sure thing!" you say, (you moron,) and the guy needs some penya to dupe, OMGWTFBBQ, you hand over ALL your penya, your set, some greens, waiting for it for be DUPLICATED by this supremo hacker dude, and he logs out... THERE IS NO WAY SOMEONE CAN (LEGALLY) DUPE PENYA, GEAR OR C$ ITEMS!

Grinding away, you're a little bored, chap hops off a board near you, says, "Hey! wanna do a LOT more damage? I have some stuff you can try, I just need your account to set it up right...", and you, (FTW moron) let him have the access to 'set up your elite super damager hacks and buffs' on your account, when you log back in, your account is BARE, nothing left, everything of value has been removed... THERE ARE NO LEGAL HACKS, AND THERE ARE NO HACKS THAT REQUIRE YOUR PASSWORD ANYWAY! DONT HACK, DONT LISTEN TO PEOPLE OFFERING HACKS, DONT STAY NEAR ANYONE USING HACKS!

GM Bully Boy
Some random noob rocks up, and asks for plvlz, penya, help with his penis length, you name it, he is asking for you to do it for him, "NO WAY GTFO" you say (finally, some sense!?) But, no, here it comes, the noob says something like "I AM A GM" or "I KNOW THE GMS", and then proceeds to tell you how you will be banned, de-leveled, items removed, account deleted, all sorts of horrible punishment -- you give in, give him penya and/or items, "Please dont hurt my char, please!" FFS, THIS IS KNOWN AS GM TOOLING OR GM BLACKMAIL -- THERE IS NO WAY SOME RANDOM MORON WILL HAVE A GM IN HIS POCKET READY TO DO THIS TO YOU -- THERE IS NO GM WILLING TO GET FIRED FOR SOME FUCKNUT WITH A BIG MOUTH.

"I just got hacked!"
So, tooling around, some chap starts shouting, "I have been hacked! HELP ME!", and aww gosh, you feel really sorry for him, shucky darn, you'll give him some money and stuff, some spare greens, cool, you feel good... Do you know this guy at all? How did he get hacked? LMAO, later he runs past you, +10 set, great gear, yells "THANKS SUCKER"! NO, HE NEVER GOT HACKED, HE NEVER LOST A THING, YOU LOST OUT! (Moral: help friends, help guildmates, but never give away anything you can't afford to replace or simply don't need or use!)
Variation 1: A character approaches you and says, "Hi! I'm (Dude You Know) and some hacker took my account away!", You really DO KNOW a chap by this name, and feel so sorry for him, give him stuff, maybe a little too much, to help him out... later (Dude You Know) is logged in, you say, "You the hacker!" or "Shit, man, is that you?", your friend says, "huh? i'm ok! not hacked! all my stuff is aok! wtf are you on?" -- Yes, the other guy was the scammer, and you did NOT realise or verify that! Goodbye penya and greens!

"I got this great program..."
You get a whisper from a character you don't know, "Hey, wanna try a really neat program" or "I got this program that doubles your damage", and, total noob, say "Yes! Please!" and proceed to download and install the proggie for whatever purpose your "new friend" says it perform, of course, he needs you to relog -- meanwhile the trojan in the proggies keylogs you, sends your details to him, and later your account is cleaned out, totally -- DONT DOWNLOAD THESE PROGRAMS FROM OTHER UNKNOWN PLAYERS, THEY ARE NOT HACKS, THEY ARE ALWAYS KEYLOGGERS AND MALWARE TO GET YOUR PASSWORD!

LOST ITEM POLICIES: Check with your flyff GM team on what they will and will not restore, as Reiko has suggested, you will need proof to make any claim for restoration, so take a screenie.
