Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance is the stand-alone expansion to Gas Powered Game's Supreme Commander released early this year. The story picks up right after the events of Supreme Commander with an intro movie highlighting the events of the past couple of years; the Seraphim (the game's new faction) enter the universe through a quantum rift on Earth and launch an all out campaign against mankind. The three factions from the previous game are forced into an alliance as a last hope to fight off the Seraphim.

The game includes a campaign consisting of 6 missions; playable by each of the 3 original factions. The early missions are more enjoyable than in the original due to the fact that you have access to the entire tech tree from the start (minus some of the new units which you gain access to throughout the campaign), whereas in the original you were stuck at Tier 1 or 2 for most of the campaign. This does have the downside though that you spend the beginning of each mission teching up since you often don’t start with a base. All of the missions play out relatively similar consisting of you gating to the planet and setting up defenses to hold of the constant AI attacks, which provide a negligent threat once you build up sufficient defenses; teching up to Tier 3; and then proceeding to destroy everything on the map. There are a couple optional secondary goals in each of the missions which vary based on which faction you're playing as and provide a small amount of variety to the campaign missions.
