'Guitar Hero' maker files patent suit has the almost inevitable litigious
follow-up to Gibson's lawsuit claiming they own patents to a game like Guitar
Hero (
story). Word is: "Activision, in a complaint filed Tuesday
in federal court in Los Angeles, seeks court orders that it doesn't infringe the
technology and that the Gibson patent isn't valid."
Techdirt
(thanks Mike Martinez) has a story about this, and after examining Gibson's patent,
concurs with Activision that several aspects of Gibson's patent do not seem
applicable to the Guitar Hero games, which cover participating in a virtual
concert using a real guitar and a 3D headset.
