Alone in the Dark Ships in EU; DRM Info, Review Dust-up
Infogrames announces Alone in the Dark is shipping to European stores
for PC, Xbox 360, Wii, and PlayStation2 (thanks Gamer's Hell). On a related note,
TVG reports the game includes the reviled SecuROM DRM, which will require an
internet connection to activate the game, though it does not seem that their
implementation includes the phone home features or limited number of activations
that were so controversial in Mass Effect and BioShock. Finally,
Kotaku reports that some sites have been getting legal threats from Atari
for early reviews of the game, saying that these must be from pirated copies,
prompting speculation that this would not be such an issue if these reviews were
more positive.
Next Generation contacted Atari for comment on this, and received none.
